These are of the Victorian Box Table I did for the Decorative Arts Collection Auction at the Houston Artist Expo in August of 2007. I was very pleased at how they turned out and they brought in a good amount of money for the DAC so I was especially pleased about that. Leif’s Table and Ginger Jar
This table and ginger jar belong to my friend Leif Bengtsson
in Sweden. I used to teach in his studio in Haninge and the
first year I went I painted the table. I wasn’t quite
finished when it was time to leave and he said he would not
take me to the airport until I did the few final touch-ups!
No stress there! The second year I went back, I painted the
Ginger Jar to match for him (well ahead of my flight out I
might add!). I created the Faux finish and then did very traditional
multi-load painting on top of the Faux finish.

Rabbit Doll
This is Victoria Rose and when I say I made her by hand I
am not exaggerating one bit! Her head and paws are ceramic
bisque and I formed them from a mold, then fired the pieces
in my kiln and then painted them with oils. Her body is muslin,
I sewed it together and then painted her heart. I made all
her clothes and then embellished them with more painting.
I once sold Victoria Rose to my friend Karan, and then begged
her to sell Victoria Rose back to me which, thankfully, she
did! I missed her!

Chloe's Doll
Furniture
My husband, Harold, designed and fabricated
all the pieces and I did the painting. They are designed to
fit the popular 18" dolls such as American Girls. My
granddaughter Chloe and I each have a doll and when she and
"Kirsten" comes to visit us (Samantha lives here
with me!) from Texas we have a grand time putting the "girls"
to sleep at the end of a long day. When Chloe is old enough
the furniture will go to her and hopes are that it stays in
our family for many generations to come. The painting style
is traditional multi-load.

This large urn resides
in the home of my dear friends Leif Bengtsson and Eva Carlsson
in Sweden. I taught for many years at their studio, ELB Keramikstudio
in Haninge, and this is one of the pieces from a seminar held
there. The piece is a large ceramic lamp base with the lid attached
and a fancy finial attached at the top in place of a light fixture.
The painting style is traditional multi-load.
Vaselid is view from the top.
